General information and advice on accommodation in Budapest:

Hotel standards are different in each and every country. To help you decide about your accommodation, let us give you some pieces of advice on how the 3-4-5 star hotels in Budapest look like compared to what you are used to when travelling in the EU. Please note that this is our personal point of view and you may give a different evaluation depending on your own travel experiences.

3* hotel quality in Hungary can be very different from hotel to hotel. In our offer, Ibis Hotels represent the standard real 3* Ibis quality and hotel Délibáb is probably closest to what we all consider 2*.

While checking our rates, you may have noticed that the difference between 3 and 4* rates is much smaller than between 4 and 5 stars. This relation reflects approximately well the service quality differences: big 4* hotels - like Best Western Grand Hotel is, and hotels with special features like the sport and nature friendly Normafa hotel is - are conform to European 4* standards. But in general, 4* hotels of Budapest seem to be closer to European 3* standard. 5* hotels are absolutely high class ones and our experience is that small 5* hotels pay even more attention to service quality -this is why we have chosen these 2 little gems where besides the perfect service quality you will be known as 'Peter', 'Sarah' or 'Mr. Smith' and not only considered as Mr & Mrs room number 560...

The Family Style Tree-star hotel is located next to the Heroes' Square. The Race centre can be reached with 3 minutes walk and you can get to downtown in a few metro stops. The Hotel is located in a charming neo-classic villa and has 34 rooms. Most rooms are non smoking, some have a balcony and a few are 'connectable', so ideal for families travelling with children. The buffet breakfast is specially abundant and the staff is very friendly. Good choice if you are looking for a modest and familiar hotel.

IBIS HOTEL VÁCI ÚT *** - Best Price / Quality Deal

This Ibis Hotel is the best deal among the 3 star hotels located close to the race centre. The hotel is located at the crossroad of two big avenues, next to the Metro that takes you downtown in 5 minutes and only 2 km (2 stops by trolley) from the start. It has modern spacious and comfortable rooms, with a cosy bed, a functional bathroom as well as a restaurant & 24/24 bar. The hotel was renewed in 2003, all 322 rooms are air-conditioned, equipped with coloured TV and radio. Non-smoking rooms may also be booked. The hotel also accommodates pets.

IBIS HOTEL HEROES SQUARE***- Great package deals

The Hotel faces the Museum of Fine Arts on Heroes' Square and it is one of the closest hotels to the race start and finish that can be reached with 3 minutes walk. It has 139 rooms with air conditioning, telephone, TV, bathroom with bath and offer services like laundry, drink bar, parking and a new unique quick pasta restaurant with open kitchen.

BEST WESTERN GRAND HOTEL HUNGARIA**** - The best & closest 4 star hotel

A modern hotel with centennial tradition: the central block of the present hotel building has operated since 1915 under the name of Imperial Hotel. After its reopening in 1985, it was modernized several times. With its 499 rooms it is the biggest hotel in town and a real European 4 star hotel.

As it is located along the main traffic line of the city's heart, leading to the Elizabeth Bridge, the hotel has excellent public transport connections (metro and bus) ensuring easy access to the most important parts of the city and to all major attractions worth visiting.

The race centre can be reached with a 10 minutes walk and we will also be happy to organize your race transfer on request.

All rooms are air-conditioned and equipped with phone, Internet access, minibar, TV and hairdryer. Room service, laundry and valet service are also available as well as the two restaurants and the lobby bar of the hotel. The Bora Bora Wellness Centre welcomes guests for: massage, fitness centre, jacuzzi, sauna for extra charges.

DOMINA INN FIESTA**** - best location downtown
The main asset of the hotel is the location: on the half pedestrian Király street, in the middle of the city centre, next to St Stephen's Cathedral, the Synagogue and the river Danube, very close to the "soho" of Budapest where all the best bars and restaurants are. Domina Inn is a modest 4 star hotel that offers comfortable accommodation, furnished in a modern and colourful style. They have a nice cellar restaurant where buffet breakfast is also served, non smoking rooms, minibar, TV and special rooms with handicap facilities. The race centre can be reached in 10 minutes by the beautiful Millennium Underground or with 20 minutes walk on Andrássy Avenue.

NORMAFA HOTEL**** - wellness & greenbelt

Stay in the calm and green area that is the most popular among runners of Budapest! Normafa is the 'must run' location in Budapest, a hilly nature protected area by the Buda side where you can run in the forest, up to the View point of János Hill, or until the villages around.

Renting an apartment for a short term stay instead of going to a hotel is getting more and more popular among international travellers. The flats we offer are located in 2 different city break apartment houses, they are all fully equipped, newly furbished and very well located downtown. If staying in a short walk distance from all major attractions and the nightlife is more important than staying two steps away from the race centre,

these apartments are what you are looking for. You can still reach the start from any of these lodging facilities in maximum 20 minutes.

All apartments have a living room and a bedroom. The sitting room has has a pull-out sofa bed, so one apartment can host even 4 people, and a 5^th extra bed may be available in some apartments on request. The kitchen is equipped with everything you might need, there is a TV and a bathtub in the bathroom in every flat and if you need wireless Internet or a washing machine just ask your coordinator to book you one of the apartments that have it.
