LEISURE PROGRAMS AT THE BUDAPEST MARATHON & HALF MARATHON RACES

RUNNERS BANQUET DINNER & WINE TASTING WITH CULTURAL PERFORMANCE after the races

The official closing event of the races for foreign runners!

We are kindly inviting you to the official closing dinner of the Marathon & Half Marathon races held in an elegant, friendly wine cellar in the very centre of the city, near the impressive St Stephen Cathedral.

It is the most appropriate way to celebrate your successful running and to share your experiences with the other participants while you are enjoying:

The 4 piece wine course including the world famous Tokaji Aszu, presented to you by the sommelier of the cellar
a classic 3 course Hungarian dinner
'all you can drink' along the dinner (incl.wines, soft drinks and mineral waters)
and an exclusive Hungarian cultural performance where you can also participate!

This is the closing party of Budapest Marathon/Half Marathon, only runners and their companions can take part in this program.

I LOVE PASTA

BOOK YOUR PRIVATE PASTA DINNER on the DAY BEFORE THE RACEs!

WE LOVE PASTA! - it is not only delicious but also very useful on the day before the race! We know that some of you wish to have a pasta dinner besides the marathon pasta party lunch that is included in your entry fee, and we also thought of the half marathon runners (as there is no pasta lunch for them) when we booked an entire restaurant for hungry runners!

The Italian restaurant we have chosen is located near the Parliament, in the middle of Budapest city centre. We have prepared a special runner's menu with a fix menu rate and bigger pasta portions than the usual (350gr!) for your convenience and you are of course welcome to choose extra dishes á la carte.

Our Pasta dinner Program also includes a short walking sightseeing: you will meet our 'underguides' on Deák square - easy access: the main metro, "the city centre" itself - from where you will reach the restaurant with a half an hour long sightseeing walk passing by the St Stephen Cathedral and the Parliament.

Date: Saturday before the race

Time: 7 pm

Appetizers: chef salad /mix green salad or pasta balls
Pasta: spaghetti with either creamy mushroom, or bologna style or with tomato sauce.
Dessert: tiramisu or fruit salad
Drink: a bottle of mineral water / person and glass of wine or coca cola product or cappy fruit juices coffee

RELAXING MASSAGE AFTER THE RACE

Apply and have a relaxing sport massage after your race, in your Hotel room! You don't have to wait or queue for a massage - our professional masseur will come to you.

Please indicate the exact hour when you wish to have the massage. We will confirm your choice depending on the availability of our masseurs.

GUIDED SPA TOUR

Spa tour to Széchenyi Thermal Bath, to one of the largest -but surely the most beautiful and authentic- spa complexes in Europe. During the 2-3 hours guided program you will be introduced to the world of the traditional Turkish bath culture and you will of course try it! Bring your swim suite and follow your guide's instructions on which pool to try first, how long you should stay in the camomile vapour or how you should finish your relaxing program!

Fix Group Tour: Sunday (race day) 10.30 for 49 euros!

(the tour takes place in the thermal spa located exactly where the race starts and finishes. After your running travel mates started to run, you just have to join the group at the same place and you will be back at the finish line approximately when they end the run.)

DISCOVER THE CITY BY BUS

Have an overview of Budapest and take your time (and pictures) at the 'discovery' stops!

Tours start near the race centre and pass by all the 'must-see' attraction of the town: the Parliament, the Danube and its bridges, the Royal Castle, the Fisherman's Bastion, the Matthias Church, the Citadel, the St. Stephen's Basilica, the House of Opera, the Jewish quarter and many more local spots.

Available in English + several languages upon request, depending on the group size. Ask your coordinator for details.

The only way to really discover a city is with a local person.

The UNDERGUIDE concept's goal is to make you travel like you have ever wanted: not only visiting your destination but also diving in the local culture's slice you feel the closest to you.

Make sure that besides the main sights, you discover the off-the-beaten track districts, markets, restaurants, shops, bars, streets, buildings, parks, architecture and sport facilities that the locals like the most!!

Available every day, in several languages !

95 Euro for 1-4 persons, + 25eur/person in case of more than 4 pers.

Included: tailoring your programs, a private underguide, a surprise that 'cheers your trip up', taxes.

Delicatessen Budapest_ Private Gastro Sightseeing Tour

Are you a runner who - besides the main sights - always discovers the destination through its culinary life? Then it is YOUR TRIP!

The tour goes through four stages of "picks and bites" so to let you taste as much of the Hungarian specialities as you can take. Besides the walking city discovery tour, among the four stages, your underguide leads you from one exciting, famous and hidden place of the city to another.

Four stages:

1. central market hall (have you ever tasted the lángos with a local drink, the stuffed cabbage, the winter salami' with our sweet yellow-green fresh paprika and with zsömle or kifli?)

2. a famous ruin bar - jewish district ( taste the Unicum or a home made Pálinka, wash down with spritzer, beer or the local, grape based soft drink, try the most surprising local snack: bread with fat and paprika, or with spicy quark)

3. 'the hentes' - butcher's (grilled sausage or the Hungarian speciality black-pudding with crispy white bread, mustard and pickles with a local drink)

4. sweets & dreams (we will finish the day with either a typical cake in a lovely classic café of Andrássy avenue or with a kosher cake in a famous patisserie of the Jewish district. a coffee / tea is also included).

WINE TASTING

Next to St. Stephen's Basilica, in an authentic wine cellar under the city, you are invited to taste the unforgettable flavours of 6 great Hungarian wines with the explication of the sommelier of the cellar. (standard language: English, other languages available on request. Ask our coordinators for details). The 6 wines are selected from different wine regions of Hungary, including the world famous Tokaji Aszú so you can have an overview of the huge wine variety Hungary has to offer.

Besides discovering an important cultural aspect of Hungary you will have the best aperitif of your stay!

- As the dinner is not included in the wine tasting, we will be happy to book you a table for dinner in the cellar or one of the nearby restaurants. Ask your coordinator's advice.

SIGHTSEEING TOURS BY BOAT ON THE DANUBE

DAYTIME city cruise Duna Bella

During the pleasant hour on the ship, you are guided by the two parts of the city as "Buda" and "Pest" are telling you their fabulous stories about the charming curiosities along the river. This dialogue ends at the Margaret Island, where you have the possibility to participate in an hour walking tour. Following the island break, the boat turns towards the town again, but the show is not over yet: a sparkling cocktail and a choice of wine, beer or soft drink will be served.

EVENING city cruise Duna Legend

You are invited for an hour's boat cruise at night. With a glass in hand you can experience how the legends of Budapest come to life. You can look behind the walls and the Royal Palace, Parliament, Margaret Island, the bridges, and other splendid sights, all bathing in light and telling you their story.

A welcome glass of Champaign and choice of wine, beer, soft drink are served.
